Fair Play Notes and Agreement

  • Before participating on 5/2 all players need to complete the fair play agreement here: https://forms.gle/YnBCEnM4tzZcAi8g9
    • The following link lists the players who have signed up for the Tournament (not auto-updated): Signups for State
    • For those who participated in the Warm-up Event on 4/25 the Fair Play Agreement signed will suffice for both the Warm-up on 4/25 as well as the WSECC on 5/2.
  • The event will utilize the chess.com/chesskid.com fair play system to detect cheating incidents.
  • This system has been developed over the last decade by a team of computer scientists, mathematicians and chess experts.
  • The system has been independently audited by Natesh Pillai, Associate Professor of Statistics at Harvard University
  • There have been additional reviews of the system by multiple Grand Masters
  • Every single game played during the event will be reviewed by the fair play team.
  • The tournament directors will receive reports from the fair play team throughout the event.  They will be authorized to take actions based on those reports. Players who are found to be cheating will forfeit all games in the tournament (including those previously played) and will not be eligible to receive any award or medal.
  • An appeal process will be in place for the event.  Any player caught cheating will have the right to appeal the decision.  Appeals will be handled by a group of experts from the Fair Play Team. They will manually review all of the statistical data from the Fair Play system and the game data to make a final recommendation to the tournament organizers, who will then make a final decision based on that recommendation.
